Our Techniques

Adjusting AreaWe use a number of highly-effective adjusting approaches to help improve spinal biomechanics and reduce nervous system interference. The approach we use is based on our judgment and years of experience.

The primary adjusting techniques we use include:

Pettibon

We use the Pettibon System because it offers research-tested adjustment procedures, involves patients in home care procedures for faster recovery and relies on X-rays for diagnosis and documenting progress.

After you perform warm up exercises, you’ll be examined to see how your spine moves. If a lack of mobility is detected, an adjustment will be given. Yet it won’t be the compressive thrusts typically associated with traditional chiropractic. Instead, we’ll gently stretch your spinal column in a way more as you would when turning or bending. We get excellent results relieving nerve compression, pain and associated neurological dysfunction.

Motion Palpation

Using Motion (movement) Palpation (feeling with the hands and fingers), we examine each joint to analyze the degree to which it may lack proper motion. By having you turn and bend, moving joints through their range of motion and feeling how they respond, we can isolate dysfunctional joints.

Logan Basic

Based upon the belief that many spinal problems are compensation reactions, we use a light, sustained force exerted against a specific contact point on the sacrum at the base of the spine. By using the muscles surrounding the sacrum as a lever system, improved function can be observed up and down the spine. Patients appreciate this approach because it is one of the lowest-force methods used in chiropractic.

B.E.S.T.

Bio-Energetic Synchronization Technique (B.E.S.T.) is a healing system that coordinates and balances the workings of all the systems of the body. This non-force technique that identifies and reduces interferences from the nervous system that prevent various organs and tissues of the body from working in harmony with each other. Stuck patterns that prevent healing are identified, and then by modifying the patient's conscious thought, eye position and breathing patterns, the body is “retuned.” When the patient's body is functioning based on present circumstances, rather than the past, true healing can and will occur.

Dr. Marcus Asks some important questions of interest to El Dorado residents - Chiropractor El Dorado Dr. Marcus Asks...

Will chiropractic adjustments make my spine too loose?
No. Only the spinal joints that are fixated and "locked up" receive attention. The occasional spinal joint that moves too much is passed over so weakened muscles and ligaments can strengthen and heal.
Why does chiropractic work?
Chiropractic works because your nervous system, consisting of your brain, spinal cord and all the nerves of your body, controls and regulates every cell, tissue, organ and system of your body. A chiropractor locates and reduces areas of nervous system compromise (usually along the spine) so your capacity to heal is restored. Chiropractic works by helping your body work as it was designed.
